The youngest deposits in the proposed permit and adjacent area are
• Quaternary alluvial deposits in the floodplain of Fish Creek. These
are stream-laid deposits less than 20 feet thick, consisting mainly of
sand, silt and clay, interbedded with discontinuous, lenticular gravel
deposits. The alluvium was deposited in a floodplain which is shown
on Map 4, Fish Creek Tipple Geology. The floodplain narrows near the
Fish Creek Tipple, and actually terminates directly adjacent to the
tipple where Fish Creek flows over a bedrock outcrop. The floodplain
is reistablished downstream from the tipple area.
Based upon the plethora of site specific geologic information
accessible to the Division in the recently submitted permit
application for Energy Mine No. 3 (File No. C-84-062) and the fact
that no additional disturbance of the strata underlying the proposed
permit area is planned in this application, Twentymile Coal Company
Requests the Division to waive the requirement for a statement of the
results derived from the physical and chemical analyses of core
• samples collected adjacent to the Fish Creek Tipple permit boundary.
Rule 2.04.7 - Hydrology Description
(1) Ground Water Information
(a) The application shall contain a description of the ground
water hydrology for the proposed permit and adjacent area, including, at a
minimi~m•
Si) The depth below the surface and the horizontal extent
of the water table and aquifers;
iii) The lithology and thickness of the aquifers;
(iii) Known uses of the water in the aquifers and water
. table; and
2.04-19
