-io- <br />3.4 PRODUCTIVITY DATA <br />• <br />Mean herbaceous production on the pinyon-juniper affected area was <br />32.77 lbe/acre (Table 3.4). Perennial grasses including Bouteloua raei- <br />lie; Oryzopsis hymenoides, and Agropyron spp. were the main contributors to <br />the grass production, which was appro~dmately 75 percent of [he overall <br />production on the affected area. Production on the reference area (28.71 <br />lbs/acre) vas only slightly less than on the affected area (Table 3.4). <br />Approximately :1 percent of the production on the reference area was <br />comprised of grasses, primarily perennial grasses including Oryzopsis hyme- <br />noides, and Bouteloua eurtipendula. <br />3.5 DENSITY OF WOODY SPECIES <br />Hears density of shrubs and sub-shrubs on the pinyon-juniper affected <br />area vas approximately 2501 per acre (Table 3.5). uercus gambelii, <br />Purshia tridentata, and Eriogonum spp. were the most frequently encountered <br />shrub/sub-shrub species. <br />• Mean density of trees on the pinyon-juniper affected area is approxi- <br />mately 88 per acre (Table 3.6).
