Doc Date:12/11/2001 III 1111111III~II III
• ~'~ 4.25 OPERATIONS ON PRIME FARMLAND
4.25.1 SCOPE
This section sets forth soil removal, stockpiling, and replacement
operational requirements, and revegetation and other reclamation standards
for prime farmlands. These requirements are designed to ensure that any
effected lands will have agricultural productive capacities equal to pre-
mining levels and that these lands are not lost as an important national
resource.
As described in Sections 2.04.12, Prime Farmland Investigation, and
2.06.6, Prime Farmlands, no lands within the Southfield mine or loadout
areas have been identified as prime farmlands as defined under Section
1.04(95) of the Colorado Regulations. Dorchester, the previous mine
operator, requested and received a negative determination relative to
• prime farmlands during initial permitting efforts for Mining and
Reclamation Permit No. C-037-51. Dorchester's request and supporting
documentation are presented in Exhibit 13, Prime Farmland Investigations,
and the CMLRD negative determination can be found on Page 29 of Exhibit
14, Proposed Decision and Findings of Compliance. Accordingly, the
specific performance standards contained within this section are not
applicable to the Southfield mine and loadout areas.
•
4.25-1
