C.M. Chesnik Constriction, Dlr. Dave Aerry and Mr. Rill Cacter of <br />the State of Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology and Dlr. <br />Steve Westbay of Gunnison County Planning. The purpose of this <br />meeting was to review the project, discuss the concerns of tl,e <br />client, the regulatory agencies and WESTEC regarding several <br />aspects of this project. <br />A second site observation by Edward DI. <br />Morris, P.E., of Lincoln DeVore, occurred on 9-16-96. This site <br />observation was to perform additional field observations and Lo <br />observe the excavation of a test pit in the proposed sediment <br />pond below the waste bank. The exploration pit was excavated by <br />Chesnik Construction, logged by personnel of WESTEC, with obser- <br />vations by Bill Aalaz, Lincoln DeVore, Oxbow Carhon & Dinerals <br />and the State of Colorado Division of Minerals and Ceology. <br />Several hand excavated pits were placed in the dry creek banl:s, <br />above the proposed sediment pond, by Lincoln DeVore Inc. The <br />purpose of these hand excavated pits was to try to identify the <br />top of the prominent sandstone unit and provide a preliminary <br />assessment of the overburdened materials above this sandstone <br />unit. <br />GENERAL GEOLOGY <br />A general description of the lower Dlesa <br />Verde Formation exposed in the stud}• area is given on pages 2 <br />thru ~1 of the WESTEC report and the summary of boring number t;BN- <br />SO1 in appendix A. <br />r 1 <br />2 <br />
