n <br />U <br />• <br />Section 816.115 Revegetation: Grazing (continued) <br />Grazing: Minor Revision No. 40 (MR-40): Grazing -Stocking Rate. <br />Minor Revision No. 40 (MR-40) was submitted and received approval May 18, 2004. <br />The Revision approves a stocking rate of 188 Animal Units per Month (AVM's). <br />The Colorado Extension Office agents, C.J. Mucklow of Route County and Brenda <br />Brown of 7ackson County, Colorado evaluated the Kerr Mine site during July, 2003 for <br />usable forage for grazing purposes. Based on their evaluation of 700 pounds of usable dry <br />matter per acre and using a fi8y percent utilization by livestock, the recommended <br />stocking rate is approximately 188 AUM's. <br />The neighboring ranch adjacent to the mine site grazes approximately 500 cattle during <br />the summer seasons. Accordingly, grazing 500 cattle at the mine site and based on <br />188AiJM's as recommended, the allotted grazing time is 11 days. <br />Scheduling of grazing (as outlined in Section 780.18) is influenced on a seasonal basis by <br />the rotation of pastures adjacent to the mine site and availability of BLM grazing <br />allotments for those pastures. <br />(insert this page in Section 116.115 Revegetation: Grazing <br />Volume 2) <br />816.155a Revised May, 2004 <br />• (MR-40) <br />
