rpoc Date:12/11l2001 III IIIIIIIIIIIII III
sss
~(G Section 816.111 Revegetation: General requirements.

la) Each person who conducts surface mining activities shall establish on all affected land a
diverse, effective, and permanent vegetative cover of the same seasonal variety native to the
area of disturbed land or species that supports the approved postmining land use. For areas
designated as prime farmland, the requirements of 30 CFR 823 shall apply.
As fully described in Section 779.23, upon the completion of mining, Kerr Coal proposes
to return the Kerr Mine Area and the Kerr Tipple Area to their predisturbance land use
(rangelandl. To this end, Kerr Coal has identified a suitable seed mixture for the Kerr
Mine Area and the Kerr Tipple Area, respectively, which will be capable of establishing a
diverse, effective and permanent vegetative cover supportive of the postmining land use.
The proposed seed mixtures for the Kerr Mine Area and the Kerr Tipple Area set forth
below were derived after careful study of not only the vegetative types which occur
naturally in these areas, but also other potential introduced species intended to support a
rangeland land use. Table 29, Summary of Vegetative Types, lists the vegetative types
occurring at the Kerr Mine Area.

•
TR-19
816-143
Revised 1 1 /98
