The site to be reclaimed is located in an area
of Hapney loam which we visited. These soils are sodic
and saline . Native vegitation includes rabbitbrush ,
greasewoos , western wheatgrass, alkali sacaton, blue
grama and saltgrass .
In the site there is a good stand of alkali sacaton present.
For reclamation purposes all south facing slopes should be
shaped to 6 : 1 slopes with all other slopes shaped at 4 : 1.
The following grass mixture should be drilled and mulched
with straw.
SPECIES VARIETY Lbs/Ac. in Mix
Streambank wheatgrass (Sodar) 8 . 7 Lbs/Ac.
Alkali sacaton (Salado) 1. 3 Lbs/Ac .
If seeding is by broadcast , rates should be doubled. You
indicated that the site will be stripped of topsoil ,
which will be replaced before seeding. This soil should
also be tested and any recommendations should be applied.
If I can be of any further assistance please let me Know.
S ' ncerely,
✓Jack Russell
