Yampa Series (12) <br />The Yampa series is a mamber of the fine loamy, mixed family of <br />• Typic Haplaguolls. <br />Typical Pedon• <br />All 0- 4"--Dark gray (lOYR 4/1) silt loam, very dark gray (lOYR <br />3/1) when moist; moderate Eine granular and crumb struc- <br />ture; soft when dry, very friable when moist; common <br />numbers of medium sized faint 2.5Y 3/2 mottles; noncal- <br />careous, pH 7.8; clear smooth boundary. <br />A12 4- 9"---Grayish broom (2.SY 5/2) silt loam, very dark grayish <br />brown (2.SY 3/2) when moist; weak to moderate, medium sub- <br />angular blocky structure breaking to moderate, medium <br />granules; slightly hard dry, very friable moist; many <br />medium sized distinct IOYR 3/4 mottles; approximately 2 <br />percent gravel; noncalcareous, pH 7.0; gradual wavy bound- <br />ary. <br />• B21g 9-15"--Gray (2.SY 5/I) light clay loam, dark gray (2.SY 3/1) <br />when moist; moderate, fine subangular blocky structure; <br />the horizon is slightly hard dry, very friable moist, but <br />individual aggregates are very hard when dry; there are <br />many large distinct 2.SY 4/4 mottles; noncalcareous, pH <br />7.2; gradual wavy boundary. <br />B22g 15-21"--Gray (2.SY 6/1) light clay loam, dark gray (2.SY 4/1) <br />when moist; weak, fine subangular blocky structure; the <br />horizon is slightly hard dry, very friable moist, but <br />individual aggregates are very hard dry; there are many <br />large distinct 2.SY 5/6 and 4/4 mottles; noncalcareous, pH <br />7.0; clear wavy boundary. <br />C , <br />J <br />
