Box AE
Paonia, Colorado 81428
Re: Final Configuration of Bear Canyon Facility
Somerset Mine File C-022-81
Dear Mr. Watts:
Stipulation No. 5 of the Somerset Mine permit required a demonstration that
all reclaimed areas at the mine will be stable with a static safety factor of
1.3. Your initial response on February 9, 1984 indicated that all areas
achieved the required safety factor except for one area at Bear Creek.
Stipulation No. 5 response was approved by the Division on April 3, 1984.
The Bear Creek ventilation pad will need to be reduced in slope to achieve the
required safety factor. The information you submitted on July 18, 1984
concerning the final contours of this pad were also contained in the February
submittal which we approved. Therefore, your submission can be handled as a
minor revision. The information you submitted was complete, no concerns were
identified. Accordingly, your minor revision is approved. The information
you submitted will be inserted in Appendix J, Volume 3 of the application.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely
;' ~
Robert G.
