EXHIBIT K -Climate Information <br />The climate is semi-azid in the Huerfano County area, summers hot and dry in the valleys and <br />much cooler in the mountains- Winters aze cold in the mountains and the valleys are usually colder than <br />the lower slopes of the adjacent mountains because of cold air drainage and inversion layers. Precipitation <br />occurs year round in the mountains with deep snow-pack accumulations during the winter. Precipitation in <br />valleys in summer falls as showers and thundershowers. Thunderstorms occw mostly during the summer <br />months. <br />Of the total average annual precipitation is approximately 64 percent (9.68 inches) falls in April <br />through September. The average seasonal snowfall is 78 inches with an average of 11 days having at least <br />1 inch of snow on the ground. Chinook winds, which blow downslope and aze warm and dry, often melt <br />and evaporate the snow. The prevailing wind is from the south-southeast with an average highest wind- <br />speed of 10.4 miles per hour in the spring. <br />In winter the average temperature is 34.9 degrees F, and the average daily minimum temperature <br />is 22 degrees F. In summer the average daily temperature is 69.5 degrees F, and the average daily <br />maximum temperature is 84.8 degrees F. The average relative humidity in midafternoon is about 35 <br />percent and the average at dawn is about 77 percent. The sun shines 77 % of the time possible during the <br />summer and 73 %of the time in winter. <br />
