(i) Previous and current adjacent gravel mining operations to the proposed permit area
have shown the Schamber grave to outcrop generally east to west in ]0 t0 20 foot
thick gravel deposits. Previous mining permits have removed most of the in place
Schamber material in the proposed 60 acre Phase l Area and left spoil piles, berms
and tow ridges of un-processed aggregate material and un-mined pockets. The
Schamber gravel layer extends across and to the south to the outcrop surrounding
the southern ridge. in between the Wiley--leim soils overlie the gravels in a thickness
of 6 to 15 feet. The gravel material is composed of tabular, elongate, subangulaz to
submunded rock fragments and cobbles (2cm to 30cm); deposited in a thick average
] 0 foot layer with approximately 10% to 2S% very Erne to coarse sand and small
gravel (2-20mm). Rock and Cobble material consists of local country wck
composed of basal[s, andesite and lathe. The topsoil is thin and will be removed and
stockpiled as explained above in (a).
(iij Stratum immediately beneath the material to be mined (depth greater than 25 feet
BGL) is similar material, mixed alluvium and mountain outwash deposits composed
bf interbedded sands, gravels and clays typical to the area.
(g} Identify the primary and secondary commodities to be mined ancUor extracted and describe
the intended use.
The primary commodity to be mined and/or extracted is rock/cobbles to be crushed for
Asphalt road surfaces and backfill material. >n addition to crushed. rock material, straight pit
run and base Rll material will be produced without processing through a crusher spread.
(h) Name and describe the intended use of all expected incidental products to be mined and/or
extracted by the proposed operation.
Products to be mined and/or extracted by the proposed operation will be: crushed rock for
base grade, backfill and asphalt material. Pit run and fill materials for subgrade, backfill and
base grade use. Sand and gravel for base titl and drainage Eli type material. 'the intended use
of these materials will be as base course and fell material for road construction activities.
