P.O. Box 316, Pueblo, Colorado, has (tied with the Colorado Mined Iatd Reclamation Division„ an appGcatlan for a permit to continue operation of the Allen underground coal mine under provisions of the Colorado Surace Coal hiining Reclamation Act of 1979. The surface facilities, mine en- trances, and mine waste disposal areas are located within sections 22 and 27, Township 31 South, Range 68 West. The surface of the proposed permit atra is owned by CF&1 Steel Corpora lion and the mine has been in operation since 1952. The mine Lsknoum as the Allen Mine and is locatsd 70 miles west of Trinidad an State Highway 12. Surface facilities for the mine are located on the south side of Stale Highway l2. The USGS 7.5 minute quadrangle map "Vigil" covers 'the area of the proposed operation. A copy o! the permit application is available for public irspection al the County Clerk's office, Las Animas County Court House. Trinidad, Colorado.
