RECLAMATION PLAN
The planned end use of the subject property will be the restoration
' of a portion of the site for use as commercial or industrial
development and the remaining portion to be used as wildlife
habitat and recreational purposes.
' Approximately 28 acres of the mined area will be backfilled to an
elevation corresponding with the current elevations. The remaining
area will be predominately a lake that impounds ground water.
' The area that will be filled will be compacted in such a manner
that it will be adequate for industrial or commercial development.
' The area that results in a lake will be provided with slopes that
are backfilled and graded to no greater than 3:1 slopes. The
affected area will be revegetated according to the recommendations
of the U.S. Natural Resource Conservation Service.
1 The excavated slopes will be provided with 6" to 8" of topsoil.
According to the soil surveys that have been conducted for this
' area, Lhe quality of the soil is quite poor and is not conducive to
cultivation and has severe limitations as far as vegetative
i rehabilitation is concerned.
Reclamation will be conducted concurrently with mining activities
in that the slopes will be backfilled, graded, and plated with
topsoil as mining is done. Revegetation will not be attempted
' until all mining and grading is done.
As mining is completed and reclamation efforts are completed, the
t bridge across the Appleton Drain Ditch, to the east of the subject
site, will be removed and the area will be rehabilitated to comply
with this Reclamation Plan and to the satisfaction od the Grand
' Junction Drainage District.
The road that was dedicated to and built for the Division of
Wildlife will remain and will be the responsibility of the Division
t to maintain.
