' 1. Grading and drainage control establishment and
maintenance will be conducted in mid to late
' summer;
' 2. Seedbeds will be prepared in late summer or early
fall in time for the seeding; and
' 3. Seeds will be planted in mid to late fall to take
advantage of winter and spring moisture. If seeding
' cannot be completed in the fall, the alternative
season is early to mid spring for seeding in this
' region.
' E.3 Reclamation Implementation
E.3.1 Mine Pits

E,3.1.1 East Pit
' ~
As indicated in the Mining Plan, mining is expected to
' begin in the East Pit and shift, in approximate sequence, to
the West Pit as the economic limits are approached. As
indicated in Section D.3, the East Pit will be backfilled with
' approximately two million tons of waste rock from the West Pit
as a part of the mining process. Figure C-4 shows the post:
' mining configuration of the East Pit and Figure E.3.1-1 shows
cross-sections of the East Pit area. The backfill ng will blend
' with the surrounding topography. Backfilled areas of the East
Pit will be sloped at the angle of repose (approximately
' 1.5H:1V) with 15-ft wide benches every 50 ft in vertical
height. Upon completion of backfilling, the angle of repose
slopes will be graded to eliminate most of the 75~ ft wide bench
' area. Benches of approximately a dozer width will be maintained
to aid in sediment and erosion control. The lowest bench will
' be left at 1.5H:1V to approximate the original contours.
1
E-8
