Stevens <br />Senior Environmental Protection Specialist <br />Division of Minerals and Geology <br />1313 Sherman Street, Rm. 251 <br />Denver, Colorado 80203 <br />Re: Castle Concrete Company, Table Mountain Quarry <br />File No. M-99-004 <br />Dear Mr. Stevens: <br />This office has reviewed your correspondence of February 1, 1999 <br />concerning the above proposed project which is located on land <br />owned by the Colorado State Board of Land Commissioners. <br />A search of the Colorado Cultural Resource Inventory has indicated <br />that one site, SFN11, has been recorded within the permit <br />boundaries but is not within the extraction area. 5FN11 is a <br />lithic scatter that was recorded in 1973 and has not been evaluated <br />in terms of the State Register of Historic Places (Colorado <br />Register of Historic Places Act (24-80.1)). The description that <br />we have indicates that the site may be important however this is an <br />existing quarry that was being mined at the time the site was <br />recorded and the site's present condition is not known. We <br />recommend that the site be re-recorded, evaluated and if found to <br />be eligible avoided by project activities.
