Raptors <br />B~~bshite Various nongame bird, mammal, and reptile spe. <br />Endangered/critical species/impacted: <br />The Arkansas D<<r[er, a Threatened fish species, has been found in small drainages nor [h of <br />this proposed site. I do not however feel thatthis project will pose any threat to them <br />or their habitat because.of it's location south of the Arkansas River. <br />Critical Habitats/vegetative communities impacted: <br />None that we are axare of. <br />A.ssessmen~t of impact: <br />The impact of this pit shou'1d be minimal since it is adjacent to the Valco Grave.'; °its <br />and is in close proximity to Lamar. However, it is in very close proximity to the <br />Arkansas River and care will have to be taken not to disturb, pollute, or impede the <br />river in any wav, especially with heavy equipment. <br />~~ <br />~ Aline Reclaunation recommendations (include key species i.:.uitats for which restoration <br />is designed. <br />I recommend that the pi[ be grade & sloped t~ 3:1 or less and reseeded with grasses and forties <br />' that enhance game bird nesting. 1'aii Wheat Jose, Switch grass, Sand Bluestem, Western IJheat- <br />grass, C-es[ed Wheat, and Side Oats Gramma along with Yellow Clover and Ladak Altalfa are the <br />hest species. The establishment of shrub thickets would not only provide food & cover for <br />wildlife but also an esthetic improvement for the disturbed site. Recommended species to <br />olant, in order of preference, are Wild Plum, Buffaloberry, Chokecherry, Wild Rose, & Sand- <br />hili.Cl~~.ry.
