r
L....~

Finally, Spoil Spring 4 will be added to Table 1. This spring exists just above Pond 006.
In the Ground Water section of Table 1, monitoring at the four GW-S2W4 series wells (two
Wadge overburden wells, one Wadge coal well and one Wolf Creek coal well) will be
discontinued. These were abandoned in 2003 because of failures caused by their proximity to
a highwall and also by safety concerns. Monitoring at the five W-24 series wells will also be
discontinued. They failed in a landslide that occurred in the spring of 2003. Abandonment of
the W-24 series wells will be performed in 2005. Replacement wells for the 4 and 24 series
wells were drilled and completed in 2004. They consist of a Wadge overburden well (WOV25),
a Wadge coal well (WW25), a Sage Creek overburden well (WSOV25), a Sage Creek coal well
(WSC25), a Wolf Creek overburden well (WWCOV25), a Wolf Creek coal well (WWC25), and a
Wolf Creek underburden well (WWCU25).
Table 2, Surface Water Parameter List, has been revised, Monitoring for acidity, aluminum,
barium, fluoride, phosphate and molybdenum has been discontinued. These parameters are
not listed in the scream standards set forth by the CDPHE in Regulation 33, Classification and
Numeric Standards for Upper Colorado River Basin (Yampa River Segments 13d and 13e).
There are also no agricultural standards for these parameters in Regulation 31, Basic
Standards for Surface Water. The "Analysis Technique" for cadmium, chromium, copper, lead,
manganese, nickel, selenium, silver and zinc has been changetl from "total recoverable" to
"potentially dissolved". This is the technique now mandated by the CDPHE in Regulations 31
artd 33. Finally, for similar reasons, the form of iron analyzed will be "total recoverable".
Table 3, Ground Water Parameter List, has also been revised. Monitoring for barium,
molybtlenum, phosphate, ammonia and silver will be discontinued. These parameters are not
listed in the ground water agricultural standards set forth by the CDPHE in Regulation 41,
Basic Standards for Ground Water.
Technical Revision 58 (2007) Monitoring Program Changes
See page 75-3a-11
TR-58
15-3a-3
Revised 04107
