EXHIBIT H
' Wildlife
This area is near the Town of Empire along the south bank of Clear
1 Creek. Since gravel mining has been going on for years, the present
' wildlife consists of small rodents and birds native to the area which
have become aclimatized to the operation.
' A variety of birds may be found in and around this area, such as
the Great Horned Owi, Red-Tailed Hawk, Cooper's Hawk, and Blue Grouse
1 being the most common game bird in this. Also, there is an assortment
of common song birds. Occasionally an eagle will migrate through this
area.
' Large game animals sometimes pass through this area and are hunted
in the surrounding area. These animals include mule deer, big horned
1 sheep, mountain goat and black bear. There is a possibility that some
' small, fur-bearing animal habitat may be nearby along Clear Creek.
Food and cover is present on adjacent lands and along Clear Creek
' so that for the type of wildlife inhabiting the area continuous food and
cover are assured.
After the gravel is exhausted and the area is reclaimed, the area
' will contain about 80 acres of pond area, which will become a waterfowl
habitat.
During the mining operation, some wildlife support such as availability
' of feed, forage and shelter may be lost but will return after reclamation
has been completed. The distribution and percentages of habitat types
' in the area will be different than at present but the approximate relation-
ships will remain the same. Final reclamation will provide grassy slopes,
i
