•
' EXHIBIT G
Water
t EMPIRE PIT
' The operation of the Empire Pit affects the ground-water system of
' the Clear Creek alluvial aquifer in the following manner.
As the Phase I area is mined, ground water from the pit is
' continuously removed through a gravity flow ditch system which returns
the water to Clear Creek. The plant water is discharged to the waste
water lagoons, presently located on the Phase II area. The lagoons have
' no discharge system. The water is detained for a period sufficient to
allow sedimentation of heavier particles and returned to the ground-
' water system through percolation and infiltration. Some water is lost
' to evaporation, but, the largest percentage is recovered by the Clear
Creek aquifer.
' Throughout the entire mining operation, both the mined areas and
the adjacent operational areas on the affected land will be maintained
' to ensure collection and positive control of storm water runoff, washing
operation waste water, and ground water. Roadway ditches, and grading
of operational areas will allow positive control of runoff waste water.
' Estimated water requirements for the project are as follows:
Mining Operation
Washing, crushing, dust control (10% loss) - 200 gpd (.11 of/yr)
1 Entrained water i.n product (3% by wt.) - 1.35 x 106 (4.15 of/yr)
' Reclamation
' Revegetation - 6-8 of/yr (max)
1
