~• The C unit, of the Middle Sandstone, ranges from 240 to 280 feet
above the F seam, and ranges from 30 to 90 feet thick. It is generally a
fine to very fine grained lithic arenite, with a clayey, and commonly
calcareous matrix. The matrix, and numerous shale partings substantially
decrease the effective porosity and permeability of the unit.
The A unit, although not areally extensive in terms of the total
permit area, ranges from 75 to 100 feet above the F seam, and is 35 to 50
feet thick. Naturally, there are additional units that can act, locally,
as aquifers. An example is the E Sandstone, which is apparently a fluvial
deposit that meanders through the area.
_-
r_
