Colorado Avenue
Denver, CO 80210
Re: Request of Bond Estimate, Transit Mix Concrete Company,
Daniel's Sand Pit #2, Permit No. M-73-007
Dear Mr. Heifner:
OF' ~~[p
~~"~ 9s
~t '; 8
r
.. .
~ s
' f876'
Roy Romer,
Governor
Fretl R. Banta.
Division Director
On December 17, 1991 you telephoned me to request the Division to
develop an estimated cost of reclamation on a per-acre basis for the
Daniel's Sand Pit #2. This request was in lieu of the detailed information
requested by the Division to properly evaluate the reclamation cost for the
site.
In lieu of the requested detailed information, I recommend establishing a
financial warranty figure in the amount of $5,000 per acre. The total permit
area of the site is 325.6 acres, which puts the total amount of the bond at
$1,628,000. Since the Division currently holds $130,000, the amount required
by the operator to bring the operation into compliance will be an additional
$1,498,000. This increase in bond must be in place by January 31, 1992 to
avoid a violation.
If you have additional questions, please contact me.
Sincerely,
~ ~~
Bruce Humphries
Minerals Program Supervisor
HBH/ern
CC: Berhan Keffelew, MLRD ~
Dan Hernandez, MLRD
Bud Herskind, Transit Mix
ATE (~ COLORADO
9989E
