8. No information has 6e en given concerning the proposed
relocation of the Third Creek channel. No information has
been given to indicate how head cutting will be prevented from
Third Creek water entering the proposed lakes. No information
has been given to demonstrate how Third Creek flood waters
would pass through the lakes to the South Platte River
channel. The spillways from the gravel mining criteria are
based upon high water in the South Platte River. It is quite
feasible that Third Creek could be at flood stage with the
South Platte River at a low stage, in which case the lake
embankments could be endangered. In short, a lot of questions
remain which should be addressed regarding Third Creek's
impact on this proposal.
We recommend that this application be continued, pending receipt of
responses to the above concerns. If you have any questions concerning
these comments, please contact me.
Sincerely,
/ BiTI De rG oo P. E.
f /~~
Chief, Flood Plain Management
WGD/dm
cc: Pat McDermott, Brighton City Manager
