Berry
Reclamation Specialist
Mined Land Reclamation Division
423 Centennial Bui]ding
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, Colorado 80203-2273
Dear Mr. Berry:
Your letter to Ben Urbonas, from this office, regarding your File
No. M-87-049, Ready Mixed Concrete Company Application - Bromley Lake,
has been referred to me for review and comment. We appreciate the
opportunity to review this proposal. Normally Mr. Urbonas would review
and comment on a sand and gravel operation located in the South Platte
River floodplain. However, because this proposal is also affected by
Third Creek, it falls under my area of responsibility.
N
m
O
0
a
O
0
U
a:
2
0
We have reviewed the report entitled "Bromley Lakes, Adams County
Colorado, Application for Mined Land Reclamation Permit" dated
March 18, 1987. We have review the report only as it relates to
floodplain management issues regarding the South Platte River and Third
Creek. We have the following comments to offer:
z
w
a
2
.-
N
a
0
Q
N
~ 1. The report recognizes the existence of the South Platte River
Master Plan, which we appreciate. The ultimate proposed use
as a City of Brighton owned and operated wildlife habitat is
certainly consistent with the recreation plan element of the
South Platte River Master Plan.
m
N
3
Jt/ 2. We have noted on the Reclamation Plan an "edge of proposed
channel" which is apparently the proposed ten-year channel
taken from the South Platte River Master Plan. We have not
made a detailed check of its accuracy, but it appears to be in
approximately the correct location.
J ~ 3. In conjunction with the South Platte River Master Plan, we had
gravel mining criteria developed for Adams County. While that
criteria has yet to be formally adapted by the Board of County
Commissioners, we use it as a guideline in our evaluation of
gravel mining proposals in floodplains.
N
ro
N
w
z
O
2
a
w
J
