M99012GE
2/17/99
Page Two
Moisture content and dry density were determined for each sample
tested of the samples obtained. The moisture content for each
sample was determined according to ASTM Test Method D2216 modified
to 140 degrees fahrenheit. The dry density for each sample was
determined by using the wet weight of the entire sample tested.
The results of the moisture content and dry density determinations
and calculated relative compaction are presented on Figure 9.
The samples were visually matched to existing moisture content-
dry density relationship (Proctor) test results from previous work
performed by Lambert and Associates on the GOB pile material and
where a visual match could not be determined another moisture
content-dry density relationship test was performed from auger
cuttings obtained during our field study. Based on the moisture
content-dry density relationship (Proctor) test results relative
compaction was calculated for each sample tested.
Moisture content-dry density relationship (Proctor) tests were
conducted on select GOB material samples obtained during our field
study. The moisture content-dry density relationship (Proctor)
tests were conducted in accordance with ASTM Test Method D698. The
results of the moisture content-dry density relationship (Proctor)
tests, including previous test results are presented on Figures 10
• through 14.
If you have any further questions concerning the geotechnical
engineering aspects of your project or if we may be of further
assistance please contact us.
Respectfully submitted,
LAMBE T AND ASSOC ~ TES
rman W. hnston, P.E.
NWJ/nr
cc: J.E.
