~' 2.05.5 Post Mining Land Uee
The proposed post-mining land use is the same as the
pre-mining land use. Please see the post mining contour map
contained in section 2.05.4 (2) (c).
The post mining land use of rangeland and Wildlife
habitat should be easily obtained.
2.05.6 Mitigation of the Impacts of Mining Operations
(1) Air Pollution Control Plan
Production from the Apex ~2 Mine will be considerably
less than 1 million tons per year. Our estimated annual
rate of production will be 90,000 tons per year.
Fugitive dust procedures to be used in connection with
surface facilities consist of the following.
Coal produced from the mine tends to have a rexatively
high moisture content. This is due, in part, to respirable
dust and float dust abatement procedures employed under
ground. Water sprays are used on the continuous miner while
the coal is cut, and belt transfer points utili¢e water
sprays to abate float dust.
The discharge of coal from the mine conveyor to the
ROM stockpile is through a stacking tube which minimizes
particulate emissions. All surface coal handling conveyors
are covered, and the crushing and screening facility is
located within a building.
Coal is transferred only a very short distance (less
than 100 ft) from the ROM stockpile to the tipple feed
hopper. This is done by front-end loader.
The stoker product is oiled just prior to being
discharged into the loadout bin. The bins are co~pletely
covered and loading is accomplished by air-gates on the
bottom of the bins.
By virtue of the mines location in the canyon, it is
generally well protected from winds.
Emissions calculations are included with our emission
permit following this section.
(2) Fish and Wildlife Plan
No threatened or endangered species of plants or
animals have been identified within our permit area.
All roads utilized by Sunland Mining Corporation are
public (County) roads.
There are no ponds containing hazardous concentrations
of toxic forming materials. In fact, it will coime ae a
188
