3-1
~'~ 3.0 ANALYSIS
3.1 RESISTIVITY PROFILES
The east-vest earth resistivity profiles Indicate two areas paled-
( channel locations (Plate 2). The Ennis Draw paled-channel is a fairly
vide area of apparent resistivity high that trends north-north-vest along
the eastern mining operations boundary. The resistivity data shows a
small channel bifurcation along a line east of the coal storage facility.
The apparent resistivity values are somewhat lover at this location,
suggesting that this feature is not as deeply entrenched as the Ennis
Drav paled-channel. The narrowing of the pales-channel along the
east side of line three (Plate I) is thought to be caused by a bedrock
topographic avale located a short distance east of the north-south
section lines. In addition, superimposed on the deeper paled-channels
are thin, more recent aged, channel deposits delineated by dashes and
shaded mapping unite on Plate 2.
• An area where an apparent resistively high was recorded exists
along the far weetera boundary of the study area near the north-south
fence line. The true effects may have been masked by a buried north-
..
south gas pipeline that traverses the area along Che west section line of
Sections 25 and 36. The area exhibits elevated resistivity values
is believed to represent a local slump feature, or an area where exten-
sive leaching (iron concretion zone) has occurred. Either field con-
dition would account far the apparent increase in resistivity.
The values of the profile data along line seven were anomalously
high. The data was collected after aevecal hours of rain, and leaching
of near surface salts may have affected the readings. There is a resis-
tivity high on the southern portion of the line which we think may be a
near surface accumulation of coarser-grained sand or a splay off of the
paled-channel of Ennis Draw. A shallow auger or drill hole or a seismic
survey would be needed to positively define the feature at this location.
•
