Gra nhy, Colorado
February 28, 1977
Mr. Robert Fleminq, Planning Director
Adams County Pla,.,iing L~partment
450 South 9th Avenue
.,:ighton, Colorado 80601
Dear Mr. Fleming:
The attached report, "Water Planning for Adams County
Gravel Permit, has been completed in accordance wii our
proposal dated January 5, 1977. Material presented in
this report can be used to meet the Adams County rezon-
ing requirements for drainage and water supply. The
report also has been prepared for submittal to the Mined
Land Reclamation Board for application for a m ping per-
mit in the subject area.
we have found that there will be negligible impact on the
water resources of South Platte River near Henderson due
to the mining operation. By utilizing water rights that
historically irrigated the property to replace water cu11-
sumed by grass and schrubs aft_- reclamation, impact of
streamflow depletion is minimized. DrainagL ~ flooding
characteristics during and after mining will nut be al-
tared significantl;r. The creation of the two lakes by
the mining process may provide additional flood storage
which could reduce property damage during future flood
events.
After you and your staff have had an opportunity to review
the report, we are prepared to meet and discuss any ques-
tions you may have. We appreciate the oppo• •nity to work
with you and look forward to discussing the investigation
with you in the fut~_e.
Very truly yours,
LE A RICE ONSULTING WATER ENGINEERS, INC.
Prepared By
Robe~t'E.
