• Additional information on pre-mining and post-mining land uses is
presented in Sections 2.04.3, Site Description and Land Use Information
and 2.05.5, Post-Mining Land Use, and illustrated by the Mine and Loadout
Area Land Use Map, (Map 4).
4.]6.3 ALTERNATIVE LAND USES
In order to determine appropriate post-mining land uses for both the
Southfield mine and loadout areas, EFCI evaluated historical pre-mining,
prevailing local, and potential alternative land uses.
EFCI's proposed post-mining land uses for both the mine and loadout areas
are compatible with Federal and local land management/use plans and are
supported by the owners of any affected private lands as documented by
Exhibit 22, Surface Owner Contracts. In addition, proposed post-mining
land use plans are consistent with the objectives of protecting public
• health and safety and preventing potential adverse environmental impacts.
Changes in land uses for the Southfield mine and loadout areas are
unlikely given prevailing land use patterns, climatic and water
availability limitations, and regional socio-economic considerations.
Discussion of specific land use considerations is presented in Sections
2.04.3, Site Description and Land Use Information, and 2.05.5, Post-
Mining Land Use.
L~
4.16-2
