Preliminary
calculations total $70,753.00. The amount of financial warranty reflects the actual current cost for
the State to fulfill the requirements of the Reclamation Plan in the event of permit revocation
andJor forfeiture of financial warranty. I have enclosed a set of financial warranty calculations,
for your review. If you have any questions or disagreements with the calculations, please contact
me as soon as possible, so that we can reach an agreement and secure an appropriate bond amount.
DMG preliminary technical review of the Weber Pit 2 permit application resulted in DMG
adequacy letter dated 8/15/95. DMG received response to our 8/15/95 letter on 9/5/95. The
additional adequacy comments provided below should be responded to in a timely manner in order
to have all DMG concerns resolved prior to the permit decision date of 10/10/45.
MINE PLAN
DMG appreciates your consideration for our recommendation to enlarge the existing sediment
basin and install an erosion resistant spillway through the embankment. DMG approves the
submitted plan to construct a temporary earthen berm along the north boundary of the affected
area, to contain disturbed area drainage and minimize potential impact to Park Ditch.
DMG calculations for financial warranty assumed that the highwalls would be backfilled by
utilizing the balanced cut and fill method. DMG calculations for balanced cut and fill assume a
highwall configuration of O.SH:1V, which will require that the highwall no[ approach the marked
perimeter of the affected area closer than 50 feet. Please find attached, a sketch titled, "Balanced
Cut & Fill", which illustrates backfilling the 40 foot highwall to a final grade of 3H:1V.
