For best results or
~squite, apply in the spring or early summer, 40 to 90 days after the first green
wth appears and whrn soil moisnue is adequate for active growth. A soil
puattrre of 75' to 83'F at a depth of 12 to 18 inches is optimal for good plant
kills. Soil temperature of less than 75'F at this depth will reduce the ultimate too
kill of mesquiu.
Noo-Cropland Use (California Only)
Use Requirements for Non-cropland Areas: No Worker Protection Standard
worker entry restrictions or worker notification requirements apply when this
product is applied to non-cropland, rangeland, and permanent grass pasmres not
harvested for hay. '
For use on non-cropland areas such as industrial manufacmting and storage sites
and righisof-way such as along roadsides, electrical power lines, communication
lines, pipelines and mikoads, including grazed areas on these sites and forest spot
application adjacent to these sites.
Weeda Controlled
knapweed, diffuse stanhistle, yellow thistle, musk
knapweed, Russiant thistle, Canada (rosette to bud)
knapweed, spotted (rosette mbud) -
t7hese weeds may only be suppressed. $upprtssion u e visual reduction in weed competition
(reduced populadon w vigor) as compared to untreated areas. The degree of weed convol
and duration o(eHect will vary with weed siu and density, spmy rate and coverage, and
growing conditions before, during, and efier the time of «eatrnent.
Broadtaal Application (Ground or Aerial)
For control ofbreadleaf weeds, apply 4, to A> pint yyet acre ofTmnsline (equivalent
to D.09 to 0.25 16 a.e. pu sue). Non-ionic surfecmnt should be used in spmy
mixtmu at 1 to 2 quarts per 100 gallons of spray mixture, The lower tau of Va
pint per acre provides acceptable control of weeds only under highly favorable
plant growing conditions and when plants are no. larger than 3 to 6 inches tall.
Where Canada thistle or knapweeds are the primary pest, best results ors obtained
by applying Ya pint per acre of Tmnsline after basal leaves are produced. Spray
volumes of ZO gallons or more per acre for ground roadside and rightsof--way
applications and spmy volumes 5 gallons or more pu acre or more for aerial
applications will ensure adequate coverage. 7ransline can be applied in an invert
emulsion using oil and an appropriate inverting agent. Follow label directions of
e mverting agent. Established grasses are tolerant but new grass seedlings may
mptred m varying degree until the grass has become well established.
roadleaf Weed Control in Rangeland and Permanent Grass Pastures
(For use in Western States, Including California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana,
Nehraska, Nevpda, North Dakota, South Dakota, Ufah, Washington and
Wyoming)
Use Tmnsline m control susceptible broadleaf weeds on rangeland areas or es-
tablished forage gmssu in permanent grass pastures. Best results on most weeds
are obtained when weeds are small and actively growing (see specific information
below) and application is made in 10 or more gallons per acre of water using
ground equipment
There are no grazing or haying restrictions following Tmnsline applications when
used at labeled rata.
Application Rates
Apply Tmnsline at a rate of 4> to 14a pint per acre when weeds are young and
actively growing. Tmnsline may be applied as described below for control of
spotted and diffuse knapweed, Canada thistle, musk thistle, yellow starthistle
and suppression of Russran knapweed. Use the lower labeled application rate
for young, actively growing weeds. The higher rate should be used under less
favorable growing conditions, or on dense weed stands and/or larger weeds.
7ransline may also be rank mixed with 2,4-D at 4r m 1 Ib acid equivalent per
acre where weed species present are susceptible m 2,4-D.
Advisory: ]n Califomia, the maximum application rate is Yi pint per acre per
zmua] use season.
Weed Speeies Rate per Aere Applkadon Timing
Spatted @ r/a - I pint Apply any time Plenv are attiv<ly
Difbse growing, including fall rgrowh.
Kmpwttd Optimum dm< is from mid bolt m
late bud stage of growth
Russian I - 1'h pim Apply from bud to mid-Dower
Kmpwxd growth stage or treat fall regrowth.
(suppression)
Camda Thistle a/r - 1'h yint Apply efier the majority of basal
leaves have emerged through the
beginning of the bud stage.
7rtatment may also be applied to fall
regrowth
mk Thisde 'h - 1 pint' Apply from rosette w early boh
growth stage.
Yelbw 'h - 1 pint Apply from rosette to mid-bolt
SmNustle growth surge
'Tmmaline may be applied to musk thistle in the msene stage at ~h pint per acre only when
applied in tank mixture with 2,4D at 4r to 1 Ib acid equivalrnt per acre. Otherwise, apply
Tmnsline m musk thistle m i5 to 1 pint per acre.
Precautions: - '
• Some desimbk broadleaf plants (forbs) art susceptible to Tmnsline. Do not
spmy pastures containing desirable forbs, especially legumes, unless injury can
be tolerated. However, the stand and growth of esmblished perennial grasses
is usually improved after treatment, especially if rainfall is adequate for active
plant growth and grazing is defered.
• Grasses are tolerant to Tmnsline, but new gores seedlings may be injured to
varying degrees until well established as evidencedby developmentof secondary
roots and tillering (multiple stems).
• Do not use hay or straw from treated areas for composting or mulching on
susceptible broadleaf crops.
• Rotation to Broadleaf Crops: Do not plant broadleaf crops in [reared areas
until an adequately sensitive bioassay crop such as soybean or other legume
shows that no detectable dopymlid is present in the soil.
Crop Use
Agricultural Use Requirements for Crop Uses: For use of this product in
tree plantations, follow PPE and Reentry restrictions in the Agricultural Uae
Requirements section of this label.
Cottonwood/Poplar and Eucalyptus Tree Plantations
Tmnsline may be used for selective postemergence control of labeled broadleaf
weeds in new and established plantings of cottonwood/poplarond eucalyptus tree
plantations. Apply az a broadcast foliar spray over heel or as a banded or directed
spray at a rate of ih to 4s pints/acre. Apply in 10 or more gallons per acre toml
spmy volume using ground equipment only. Multiple applications may be made
as long as the total rate per annual use season does not exceed 155 pints/acre.
Apply to new plantings only after they are well-established az indicaud by several
inches of new healdry growth,
Advisory: In Califomia, [he maximum Ilse rau is $ pint pu acre per annual use
season. ~ ..
Hand-Held Sprayers ~ Spot applications using hand held equipment arc also
allowed, but contact with tree foliage should be avoided or limited to lowtt
branches. Apply to weeds on a spmy-to-wet basis witlr spray coverage unifomr
and complete, Do not s~ray to the paint of runoff. Prepare a spmy solution by
adding 4. fl oz Tmnsline per gallon of wattt. When applied at I gallon of spray
per 1000 sq ft, this spmy concentration is equivalent to a broadcast rate of $
ptlacrc.
Use Precautions:
• Do not tank mix Tmnsline with other herbicides labeled for this use unless
spmy avoids ell contact with tree foliage.
• Tmnsline will not control certain broadleaf weeds, including mustards, henbit,
chickweed, kochia, lambsquaners, pigweed, Russian thistle and bindweed.
WARRANTY DISCLAIDIER
Dow AgroSciences warrants that this product wnfotms to the chemical description
on the label and is reasonably fit for the purposes stated on the label when used in
strict accordance with the directions, subject to the inherent risks set forth below.
Dow AgroSciencesMAKES NO OTHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY
OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR
ANY OTHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY, -
Inherent Kiska of Use
h is impossible m eliminate all risks associaud with use of this product.
