tank mix produeu, conmlt local reeommrndadom.
Timing and Favors in Control: The herbicidal response of mesquite is strongly inilu<nttdby environmrnul conditions es we0 as foliage condition and stage of growth. For
bat results, apply whrn new growth foliage hat nutted hwn light to daA green, when the soil temperance has reached 73'F to 83'F at a depth of J2-18 inches, and soil
moisture is adequate for plant growth. Application should be made wiNin 45 days after Ne miticai soil tcmperamrz at the 12-18 inch depth has bttn rw<hed m, if Tordon 22K
is applied m combinadoo with Reclahn, within 60 days. Product performance maybe adversety affected if eppliwdon is made before mesquite foliage has mined from light m
dark grttn or if foliage hss been injured m removal by late von, insects, hail or plant disrasa. Do na apply if mesquite exhibits new (light green) growth in response to
significant rainfall during the growing season. Soil tempemmrn et the 12-18 inch depth may vary with soil tcxmrc end drainage. Coarse-texmrcd (sandy) soils warm up sooner
than fine-textured soils (clay) soils end dry soils warm up more quickly thin wet sock.
Rcappliea+ioa: Do not reapply in the same grawmg season. Rerrzatment will nm be effective unlit woody plants dev<bp sutfxiem new foliage far interception, uptake, end
irensloeation of the herbicide to Dlant roots.
S of Concentrate A lication for Juni r Control
sshe juniper General: Apply Tordon 22K undiluted as a spot wnuntrate application prior to periods of expected rainfall. Apply directly to the
eutem redeedu soil within the dripline and on dx upslope side of the tree. Application m trees mlltt than 12 fen is not recommended. See
eastern persimmon ~ dircctiom'fm "boil Spot Concentrate" in "Applica0oo Methods" sttdon.
Ashe Juvlper: Apply 4 to 6 ml per 3 fl of plant height in me spring (April-May)
Easern RMcedar. Apply; m 4 ml per 3 fl of plant height in either spring (April-May) or fa0 (Seytember-Ocmber)
Eastern Perdmmav: Apply 2 m 4 ml per inch of stem domettt in spring (March Nmugh Mey)
Seediog to Permanent Crosses, Including Conservation Reserve Progran
(ClU') Acres
Newly Seeded Grasaea:
Tordon 22K should be applied only after perennial grosses arc well esmblishd
as indicated by development of a good secondary root system and vigorou
growth. Most perennial grosses show improved tolerance to the post emergend
applications at this stage of development.
For best results, apply to actively growing weeds in a spmy volume of 2 0
more gallons of water per acre by air or S or more gallons of water per acre b~
ground. Refer to the weeds m)e chart for information on target weed species ant
application rotes.
Perennal Broadleaf Weeds: Apply Tordon 22K to actively growing pcrennie
broadleaf weeds at up m 2 pints per acre after the grass is well established. Risl
of gross injury is greatest when using the maximum of 2 pint per acre rats.
Annual Broadleaf Weeds: Apply Tordon 22K at 4a to Vr pint per acre Io activelJ
growing susceptible annual broadleaf weeds, (including Russian thistle). Tordor
22K can also be lank mixed with 4r to 1 pound ere per acre of 2,4-D when
2,4-D sensitive species are present. Read and follow all directions far use ant
use pmcautions on other product labels.
Weed Control Prior to Seeding Cool Season Perennial Crosses: Weed convo:
with Tordon 22K fits into grass re-vegetation programs where perennial range
or reclamation gross species are to be established in non-cropland, rangeland
permanent grass pasNres, or CRP areas. Tordon 22K maybe applied in the spring
or early summer, depending on the target weed species, end gross seed planted
in the fall when conditions are favorable for gross establishment. Altematrvely,
Tordon 22K may be applied in the fall and gross seed planted in the winter or
spring when conditions are favorable for grass establishment.
Apply Tordon 22K ai 1 gVacre or less. Rettt to the weeds rote than for information
on target weed species and application rotes. When Tordon 22K is applied at
] gUecre there may be temporary injury IO new plantings of certain perennial
gross species, depending on sensitivity. However, temporary gross injury will be
more than offset by the benefits to grassu due to decreased weed competition.
Germination of annual gross species may be suppressed after neatmeni.
70 optimize weed convol it is suggested the application area be disturbed as little
as possible by the seeding operation. After application, the site should be left
undisturbed for a minimum of 14 days prior to seedbed preparation or seeding.
Potential for injury to sensitive gross species can be decreased by increasing the
interval behveen application and seeding operations.
Prectiatiotis:
• Do not use Tordon 22K if legumes are a desired cover during CRP.
• Conditions that stress grosses, such as drought, will increase potential for injury
to the grass at all stages of growth.
• Do not rotate to groin sorghum (milo) if greater than) pins per acre of Tordon
22K has been applied. Do not plant grain sorghum within 8 months after
application. This product is not intended for use on land planted to sweet
sorghum.
• To reduce potential damage to subsequent small grain crops or grain
sorghum (m0o), use the lower rate or discontinue the use of Tordon 22K at
least 2 years prior to the seeding of small groin crops. After CRP, do not plant
broadleaf crops in treated acres until an adequately sensitive bioassay shows
that no detectable pidomm is present in the soil.
• Tordon 22K et rates over 2 pints per acre may suppress certain established
grasses such as bromegrass, bluegmmma end buffalogress. However, subse-
quent gross growth should be improved by release from weed compedtion.
Spring Seeded Barley, Oats, and Wheat Not Underseeded with Legumes
• Not for use on land that is ~Dood or sub-irrigated or rotated to broadleaf
crops.
• Do not apply to winter wheat or Harley sa crop injury may occur.
• Do not treat durum wheat since some varieties of durum wheat may be
injured
Us< Tordon 22K for the control of susceptible annual broadlea{ weeds such as
(but not limited m) volumeer sunflower, wild buckwheat, lambsquaners, pigweed,
Russian thistle, and sowthistle. This product may cause shover snaw on some
varieties of cereals but grain yields are usually not affected.
Use Restriatfons
• Use only on land that will be planted the following year to grass, barley, oats,
wheat, grain sorghum (milo) or followed. Do not plant groin sorghum within 8
months after application. This product is not intended for use on land planted
to sweet sorghum.
• Do not apply Tordon 22K within 50 days before harvest.
• Do not graze or feed forage from treated areas for 2 weeks after treatment. Do
not harvest hay from treated grain fields.
• Do not apply more than 1 K fluid ounces of Tordon 22K per acre during the
small grain growing season.
Broadcast Treatment (Ground and Aerial Applications)
Tordon 22K can be applied as a single breadcest vestment by ground or aerially -
to control several broadleaf weeds by itself or as a tank mix with 2,4-D, MCpA,
or sulfony]urea herbicides such as Ally. Apply Tordon 22K at the rates suggested
in the following table in 2 to 5 gallons of water per acre by air or in 5 to 20
gallons of water per acre by ground. The addition of surfactants may aid control
under dry conditions, but may cause injury m groin if used over the top. Read
and follow directions and precautions on other product labels when rank mixing..
Applicatlon Timivg
Spring Wheat, Barley and Oats; Apply from the 3 to 5 leaf stage Io early
jointing stage of growth as indicated in the table below. Applications et the 3 m
5 leaf stage occasionally cause slight head malformations and straw shortening
but normally do not affect yield.
