Mayo and Associates, LC
i~•
3.7.2.1 Rock Access Slope (No Name Fault #1)
In late 1990, approximately 100 gpm of groundwater was encountered at the bottom of
the access slope to the B Seam (Figure 13). This water issued from the mine floor where
a fault, with 5 feet of vertical displacement, was encountered. Discharge from the fault
declined rapidly and the groundwater system was not investigated. Solute composition,
discharge temperature and other chemical parameters of this dischazge water are
unknown, but no notable chazacteristics (i.e. elevated temperature, odor) were observed.
__ _ . ssoo
Ut~ ~
rc-_ ~.r ,
•
.~
li
o Surface Drillholes
• In-mine Drillholes
~ Fault Watei
• Blowouts
\ BSeam sWcture contour (feet)
Approximate locations of faults,
~"l ball and bar on downlhrown side
0 5000
Feet
~~ ~ ~~~:~ ob'OAO-23~~ ~ ~'~~~
`.
~ A~V A ~ \~~ ~~~~`~
`~
~\\ ~\\ 6~
sBOo

Figure 13 Map of existing and proposed mine workings, surface and in-mine water
sampling locations, faults, and B Seam structure, West Elk Mine.
Evaluation of Potential Groundwater Inflows 52 February 24, 2004
Associated with E Seam Mining,
West Ells Mine, Somerset, Colorado
