EXHIBIT B
' Mining Plan
The present operator of this Perlite Open Pit Mine has been extracting
' the mineral since 1958. The previous operators operating prior to reclamation
legislation have cleared the area of topsoil and overburden leaving the Perlite
' exposed in a trench overlying the seam approximately 45 feet deep.
' Production quantities for the years 1973-1976 were used to determine area
projections required for the mining plan. They are as follows :
t1973 - 7855 Tons
1974 - 8740 Tons
1975 - 5571 Tons
' 1976 - 6258 Tons
The operator has indicated a projected recovery rate of approximately
' 6 - 7000 tons per year.
' Because economically recoverable mineral exists only in the presently
worked seam no further surface area is expected to be disrupted by on going
' mining activities, except for a remotely possible 30 foot expansion to the
northwest as indicated on the Mine Plan Map.
' Less than one-half acre of additional land is occupied by haul roads and
' stock outs. The Perlite will be excavated to an approximate maximum depth of
80 feet by front end loader which places the material in dump trucks for
' delivery to the processing site operated in Florence. No water usage is
anticipated at the mine site and no surface or ground water is retained ex-
cept for short periods after heavy rains . Previously stockpiled topsoil
' will be redistributed according to the reclamation plan sited later herein,
although the Perlite spoil provides an excellent growing medium for vegetation.
' Mining activities are conducted about 14 days per year with drilling and
blasting occurring only about one week in alternate years .
