steep soils are on fans attd lower side slopes of ridges
in the foothills. The surface layet• and subsurface layet•
at•e mainly loam or clay loam, but texture is extremely
variable, often tvitltin shot•t distances. Some areas of
these soils have a cobbev and stony surface layer and
subsurface layer. Content of cobbles ranges from 15 to
30 percent and content of stones t•anges from 10 to 25
percent in these areas. Soil depth ranges from shallow
to deep. A few areas of Rock outcrop are included itt
mapped areas.
Runoff is rapid, and the hazard of water erosion is
moderate to sevet•e. These soils are on terraces, fans,
and valleysides. Elevation t•anges from 5,200 to 6,000
feet. Slopes are 1 to 9 percent.
