However, precipitation date has been recorded for <br />the Fort Lewis Station. Temperature information and freeze data are <br />also available for Fort Lewis. 1'he proposed mine site is located <br />approximately 3.8 miles west of the rc~ording station. <br />Although the rugged topography in La Plata County causes large <br />variations in climate within short distarr:es, the climatic data recorded <br />for Fort Lewis should be very close to that at the proposed mine site. <br />• Elevation at the proposed mine site is approximately 7,500 feet above <br />sea level. The weather station at Fort Lewis is situated at an <br />elevation of 7,610 feet above sea level. <br />The normal precipitation and temperature noxmals, taken frrom <br />"Climatography of the United States No. 8114, Decennial Census of U.S. <br />Climate," for Fort Lewis are given below. Tlxe 10-year 24 precipitation <br />event for the area is 2.25 inches.
