n
U
n
u
• ll'ell Number 1 has a static water level 76 feet below ground
level. Ground level at that point is at an elevation of 7,'x90 feet
above sea level. Well Number Z has a static water level 4L feet below
ground level. Ground level at that point is at an elevation of 7,410
feet. The coal seam beir~ mined is at an elevation of 7,450 feet.
Thus, the mine will be located over 40 feet :above the potentiometric
level. There is no indication that the aquifer will be affected by the
Blue Plarne (;oal A4ine.
Atr exploratory core drill hole located in the SE/4 NE/4 of
Section 3'l was driven from the surface through all the overt~urdeu strata
to the base of the currently mined upper Menefee coal seam. No water
wda encow~tered. The log from this hole accompanies this application.
A well core hole was driven in 197Y on the mine bench near the water
• tank to a depth of forty feet. The well was dry. The collar of the
well is below the upper Menefee seam outcrop. These two holes along
with ttre two previously mentioned active water wells indicate that ttre
overburden strata and strata at least to a depth of forty feet below the
upper A7enefee coal seam contain no aquifers.
The best evidence, however, of no disturbed aquifers of no
aquifers and no groundwater seepage is in the mine workings themselves.
- 4 -
•
