• New Horizon 2
Backfill/Grading Repair Work
Ward Burbridoe Backfill Settlement Basin
During the growing season of 2002, a 50 ft long by 100 ft wide by 3 ft deep depression formed within
the reclaimed and graded backfill of Ward Burbridge's property. This depression formed within the
mine disturbance area. Location is approximately 100 feet north of Water Monitoring Wells 16, 17 &
1 S. WFC believes the settlement of the backfill in this area was accelerated by the artificial irrigation
water that was being applied by sideroll sprinklers and that it abutted up against native ground. Since
this small area is within an active hayland field that is being harvested during the spring, summer and
fall of 2002, it has been decided that repair work would be postponed until after the growing season of
2002. After the last hay crop is removed, which should be in late September, early October, and the
ground becomes some what firmer from lack of irrigation watering, WFC will haul and grade the
required amount of topsoil and place it within the depression to a height sufficient to achieve positive
drainage. This should take place in the winter of 2002-2003.
•
~/aoo2 ATTACHMENT 2.05.4(2)(C)-4-2
