• -4- •
MINING PLAN EXHIBIT D
Mining operations shall be a simple removal process in a dry alluvial setting of
moderate to gently slopping surface topography wherein the gravel and sand to be
removed is found at the surface and continues downward for the full depth of the
mining operations. From 12" to 36" of top soil shall be removed and stockpiled
for reclamation purposes on the eastern boundary of the pit.
As conditions require, the mined substances will be pushed into the pit by
bulldozers working outward from the center of an existing pit, or front-end
loaders will remove materials directly from the pit walls at the bottom of the
pit. Wh~are removal can be effected by the first method, sufficient slope will
be maintained at all times to permit the movement of equipment from ground level
to the floor of the pit in the area of operations. Where removal from the
bottom is required, sufficient slope will be maintained to provide latteral and
subjacent support. These procedures will result in a gradual expanding of the
boundari~=_s of the pit until the boundaries of the affected area have been
reached.
Once gravel has been moved to or removed from the bottom of the pit, bulldozers
will be used to consolidate the mined materials into stockpiles. From this
point, front-end loaders will be used to load the mined materials into dump
trucks for removal from the mining area. The mine will first be opened on the
northern end of the permitted area. As operations continue southward the
northern area shall be reclaimed.
Commencement date will be from the approval date to a time when the gravel is
exhausted, at which time we will immediately start on reclamation.
Water wi.Ll not be used in conjunction with this operation. No ground water will
be disturbed.
No crushing, screening, washing, or mixing will be taking place at the location.
Stockpil~zs will be on East and West boundaries as shown on maps, Exhibit C & E.
