I have reviewed your Zetter of February 8th representing the concerns of
the City of Colorado Springs about the permit application for the above
captioned proposed operation. I have passed a copy of your letter on to
the operator for his response. Please be advised that this matter is now
scheduled for the February 25, 1982 meeting of the Mined Land Reclamation
B6ard (to be held in Room 110 of our building). However, any further comments
on behalf of the City of Colorado Springs should be in order until very
nearly that date, since the required four sequential weeks of publication
did not start until shortly after January 4, 1982, and a public comment
period of 20 days is to follow that.
If you can pass on the City's concerns to me as soon as possbile, I will
irmnediately forward them to the operator and try to respond to them as
well as I can. I feel that Broderick and Gibbons has a concern for the
protection of the power lines and water pipelines passing through the
affected land. This concern is reflected in their plan of operation
which avoids the corridor involved and provides reclaimed slopes of
3H:1V on either side of it.
