C~
J
r~
LJ
A second sedimentation pond is located in the northwestern
corner of the permit area, near the railroad bridge over the
North Fork Gunnison River. This sedimentation pond collects the
runoff from the loadout facility with the exception of the
stockpile area. Any discharge from this area has to comply with
the referenced discharge permit for discharge point No. 005. Both
sedimentation ponds and the permitted discharge points are shown
in Plate 1.
The Farmers Ditch, which runs through the loadout
facility, was diverted through 335 feet of pipe installed beneath
the road and railroad track, To prevent contamination of the
Farmers Ditch, CWI entered into an agreement with the Farmers
Ditch Company which provided for the installation of this pipe
through the loadout facility. In addition to this diversion a
minor stream has been rerouted near the silos through a concrete
channel, culverts, and ditches to converge with the Farmers
Ditch.
4.2 FUTURE DISTURBANCE
In the future, CWI may consider to construct a capital
intensive transportive mitigation measure between the mine and
the coal loadout facility; most of this measure would be built in
the uplands and only a short section on the AVF.
14
GEO-HYDRO CONSULTING, INC.
