Will the shallow wells be affected by this operation?
The operation is not expected to directly affect existing ground-
water systems in the vicinity. The only well inclose proximity to the site
is a 6-inch casing, 20-foot depth domestic well at a residence on Picadilly
Road near the southeast corner of the subject property (Exhibit C -
Premining Map), Two observation wells will be installed at the northeast
and southeast perimeters of the excavation area (Exhibit C -Mining Plan
Map) so that subsurface water levels can be monitored to assure that
existing wells in the area are not affected by the extraction process.
5) Reclamation Costs
A floating bond based upon the disturbances associated with each
tract in the excavation area is desirable in order to avoid separate bonds
on each tract. Such an application might follow the schedule presented in
Exhibit D -Mining Plan as tabulated below:
Year Acreaae Disturbance Classification
Major (acres) Moderate (acres) Minor (acres)
1 - 3 14.9 Tract #1(9. 5) Washing Plant (5. 4) -- ( 0 )
3 - 5 21.5 " 2(6.6) " " (5. 4) Tract #1(9.5)
5 - 8 19.0 " 3(7.0) " " (5. 4) " 2(6.6)
8 -10 19.3 4(6.9) (5. 4) 3(7.0)
10-13 19.2 " 5(6.9) " (5. 4) 4(6.9)
13-15 19.6 " 6(7.3) (5. 4) " 5(6.9)
15-18 20.1 7(7.4) " (5. 4) 6(7.3)
18-20 21.0 " 8(8.2) " (5. 4) " 7(7.4)
20-23 13.6 -- ( 0 ) " " (5. 4) " 8(8.2)
On the above basis a bond associated with 21 to 22 acres would
encompass the activity proposed on the site for the entire duration of the
project.
If you have further questions about the operation, we will be happy to
provide additional information to you.
Very truly yours,
A.
