Most of my concerns
were addressed but there are still two areas that will require
additional submittals and/or clarification. These areas are the
seed mix and the success standards for vegetation.
The seed mix is still incorrect. The first submittal had headings
titled; pounds of bulk seed/acre, Pounds of pure live seed/ acre,
and cost/pound of the seed. It was pointed out that the seed mix
was way too heavy and that the same species could be used, just in
lower proportions. What the operator submitted is a mix that now
contains numbers under a heading of lbs./ft P.L.S. I think that
this heading should be lbs. P.L.S./acre or maybe just P.L.S./sq.
ft. but I'm not sure.
Please have the operator submit a new table using the same species
and the pounds of P.L.S./acre that will provide for a final mix
that contains 40-50 pure live seeds/sq.ft. The amount of bulk seed
is really not important at this time because purity of seed is
subject to change and when they actually go to make up the mix the
purity may not be the same as it is today.
Another area that still requires a submittal is for the success
standards. I will just propose what I think will be acceptable
success standards and they can agree or submit their own proposal.
Diversity: Two warm season grasses; two cool season grasses and one
perennial forb all contributing at least 3$ but not greater than
40$ relative cover.
Vegetative cover: The cover standard should be a direct comparison
of the reference area and should be 90$ of the reference area with
90$ statistical confidence.
