Box 980
Carbondale, Colorado 81623
Re: North Thompson Creek Mine - File C-025-81
Dear Mr. Sherwood:
Enclosed is a notification of completeness for the Snowmass Coal Company
permit application. Rs you know Snowmass is now required to publish a notice
of application once a week for four consecutive weeks in a local newspaper.
However, the proposed newspaper notice you submitted is insufficient to
satisfy the requirements of Section 2.07.3(2). The following problems
must be corrected before you begin publishing this notice.
1. Your notice should include a general description or map that shows or
describes towns, rivers, streams, or other bodies of water, local landmarks,
and any other information including routes, streets, or roads and accurate
distance measurements necessary to allow local residents to readily identify
the proposed permit area. If a description is used it should be in simple
enough terms to allow a layman to identify the site.
2. Specifically state that a copy of the application is available for
public inspection at the Garfield and Pitkin County Clerks.
3. Specifically state that written comments, objections, or requests for
informal conferences should be forwarded to the Division.
4. The notice must clearly show or describe the exact locations of the
proposed permit area.
These corrections should be incorporated in a revised public notice and must
be submitted to the Division immediately for approval. Upon approval from
the Division, this notice may then be published.
(cont'd)
