Cox <br />RE: Hydrology PAR for the Storm King Mine Coal <br />Ridge No. 1, C-084-065 <br />The Storm King Mine has adequate information to make findings under the <br />following Rule citation: <br />Rule 4.05.10 - Underground Mine Entry and Access Drainage; <br />Rule 4.05.14 - Transfer of Wells; <br />Rule 4.05.18 - Stream Buffer Zones; and <br />Rule 4.07 -Sealing of Drill Holes and Underground Openings. <br />Additional baseline surface and ground water data is needed to complete the <br />year's baseline requirements under the following Rules: <br />Rule 2.04.5 - General Description of Hydrology and Geology <br />Rules 2.04.7(1) and (2) - Hydrologic Description; <br />Rule 4.24 - Operations on Alluvial Valley Floors. <br />Additional geologic baseline is needed for the surface facilities area to <br />adequate satisfy requirements under Rules: <br />Rule 2.04.6 - Geology Description <br />Rule 4.24 - Operations on Alluvial Valley Floors. <br />The company is aware of the inadequacies in surface water, ground water, and <br />geologic baseline. The company needs to incorporate the additional baseline <br />data in their discussion of probable hydrologic consequences of mining, and <br />alluvial valley floors discussion. Additional detail is also needed in the <br />operations plan to evaluate the applicant's assessment of probable hydrologic <br />consequences of mining and impacts to alluvial valley floors. The company has <br />been made aware for deficiencies in the operations plan and discussion of <br />probable hydrologic consequences of mining sections. <br />Additional adequacy questions may arise once the applicant has submitted the <br />additional information requested in the preliminary -preliminary adequacy <br />review letter.
