temporary overburden stockpile will be used as backfill for the final
grading,
Regarding the overburden stockpile, a discrepancy exists as to the
side elope which is stated to be 1 1/4 H:1V on p. 2.05-34 in text and
drawn as 1.SH:1V on Map No. 18. In terms of stability, 2H:1V side slopes
would be more acceptable. This is based upon previous spoil pile
analyses which determine a safety factor of 1.3 to 1.5.
nannnvna_
CYCC is proposing the construction of a temporary overburden
stockpile to the west of the first pit in the mining area. This
pile will contain spoil from the first cut and will have a life of
approximately two years. The sidealopes of the pile are designed at
1.5:1 (H:V), which is considered to be stable. Yage 2.05-34a
enclosed has been revised to reflect this change.
Several considerations contributed to the choice of aidealope
grade. The angle of repose of the material is 1.25:1 based on
historical observations. A dragline spoil pile eahibita this
characteristic and we have had no failures in dragline spoils even
when Ieft unteclaimed during wet weather. Another argument in
support of this choice ie the sideelope of the overburden pile north
of the portal pit. Survey information shove the sideslope of this
pile to be approximately 1.75:1 and there have been no slope
failures observed.
-40-
