RESPONSE:
The Middle Crest Mine Detention Basin ie designed considering
the following volumes:
Design Volume (ac-f t) = 5.7
Sediment Yield (ac-f t)= 5.4
Final Storage Volume = 0.3 ac-ft
Hater storage rights are not required for impoundments with
storage volume equal to or leas than 2.0 acre-feet.
c. Based on Map 3, Permanent Sediment Control Plan, the spillway
is too close to its outlet into Middle Creek to have a slope of 0.03
ft./f t. Map 4, Hydrology, locates this pond much farther from
Middle Creek. Please clarify.
Map No. 20a, Permanent Sediment Control Plaa, shove the length
of the emergency apillvay as 30 feet. IIsing an eaistiag elope of
0.03 ft./ft., the spillway will have a fall of 0.9 feet. The
apillvay will be constructed with the design slope. Map No. 4a,
Energy Mine No. 3 Hydrology, has been revised accordingly, given the
constraints of scale.
C. Diversion Ditches
1. Ditch H3 splits into 2 ditches. Are both ditches constructed in
accordance with the design provided for Ditch H3? If this is not the
case, the separate ditch designs need to be presented in the permit
-33-
