No permanent features were visible, nor were
there concentrations of flakes.
Evaluation: The site has been disturbed by bulldozer operations resulting
from the construction of a county road. No diagnostics artifacts were
recovered which could be used to determine cultural affiliation or temn_oral
span, therefore the site will not yield Snformation important co the
understanding of prehistory of this area. The delapidated structures consisted of a dwelling, barn, and chicken
coop. This site appeared to have been abandoned within the last 30 years.
Bvaiua[ion: Although this site was recorded by BLM, no evaluation of
significance was made since it was located off of the proposed lease tract on
private lands and would not have been directly affected by coal leasing.
Subsequent to leasing, the site was destroyed by topsoil removal.
Three other historic sites were recorded by Athern and are described in the
BL.M Environmental Assessment ReDOrt, dated January 18, 1979. These sites ate
SRT111 (EF-002), the remains of the dry-laid rock foundation; SRT112 (-cF-003),
an isolated log barn; and SRT1!5 (EF-006), a small log cabin in ruins. 3LM
had evaluated site EF-006 as not eligible for inclusion in the rational
Register. Suhsequen[ly, on this authority, the site was destroyed by
construction activities related to the mine operations.
•
