as a result of applying criterion 13. However, an exception was applied,
and the original unsuitability finding was amended to be suitable with
specific stipulations (see Exhibit A and B).
The tract does consist of two watersheds which drain northward to the
Yampa River. Ephemeral tributaries drain the tract to Foidel and Middle
Creeks. Major aquifer units in the area consist of the Twentymile and
Trout Creek Sandstones of the Williams Fork and Iles Formations respectfully.
The proposed tract is rated as a Class IV visual resource management area.
The proposed tract is also covered by the 1974 Williams Fork Management
Framework Plan, 1977 Management Framework Plan Update, 1979 and 1982 Plan
Amendments. The Development alternative is in conformance with these land
• use plans and amendments.
Social and economic values center around the fact that this tract is directly
adjacent to a current mining operation and an existing Federal coal lease.
The tract can be economically mined if leased in time to be included in the
company's mining sequence.
IV. ENVIRONMENTAL CONSEQUENCES
This environmental assessment assesses the impacts of the Development
alternative. Since the No Action alternative would not impact the natural
environment, a Eull assessment on that alternative was not completed.
• 5
