Pursuant to Title 34, Article 33, Paragraph 3 of the Colorado Revised Statutes
of 1973, the Mined Land Reclamation Division hereby issues notice that, on
December 31, 1984 an application for a permit to conduct coal mining
operations, File No. C-057-82, by Peabody Coal Company, 10375 East Harvard
Avenue, Suite 400, Denver, Colorado 80231, was deemed complete for the
purposes of filing. All reviews and comment periods as provided in the Act
and the Regulations promulgated thereunder initiate from this day of filing.
The applicant proposes to conduct surfaces coal mining operations on Federal
Coal Leases C-081251 and C-081258 located approximately 7 miles south of
Hayden, Colorado. These leases were issued to the Material Service
Corporation with the subleases issued to Peabody Coal Company in December 1975
by the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management. The
proposed permit area also includes a small area of private coal leased from
the Materials Service Corporation. Also included are two haul road
corridors. The proposed permit area, containing 1478.8 acres, includes the
following described tracts situated in the State of Colorado.
