STATE OF COLORADO
Richard D. Lamm, Governor
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
DIVISION OF WILDLIFE
Jack R. DE,D!. 0! 1la frrra( I?°Sni~.Co.,
I have reviewed the "NOTICE" you sent me regarding protection of wildlife
near the Snowmass Coal Mine access road. We agree that this should
alleviate the illegal kill of wildlife which we have seen in the past
and so shall "signoff" on your permit. In other words, posting of this
notice and the Operation Game Thief posters meets our request under
the coal permitting procedure.
The past illegal actions of a few Snowmass Coal Company employees are a
matter of record. Our interest is not in punishing the employees or the
company but in stopping the poaching. We will continue to monitor the
situation and if the illegal harvest continues, we think a bussing or
vanpool program should be initiated. We greatly appreciate your efforts
and dedication tocaard protecting wildlife around your mine. We will
continue to work with you toward this end.
Cordially,
ag

October 22, 1982
~C~e~'~~~~ -
A11en F.
